‘Sugar’ and the health implications associated with its high consumption became an issue worldwide. The spotlight was firmly fixed on the beverage category as one of the main culprits.
Around this time too, green tea was becoming the fastest growing segment in the overall tea market as a result of consumers taking responsibility for their health and becoming more educated in the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
In 2011 my journey started to fix this beverage problem and elbow this culprit into a smaller corner of the market. I discovered in my research that consumers wanted a healthy lifestyle, they wanted healthy food and drink, and they wanted to live to see their grandchildren. I also discovered that green tea has a compound called EGCG which is a powerful antioxidant that has many health benefits.
My decision was made when I married the ‘sugar’ problem and the green tea benefits. After three years of research and product development, my small brewing unit produced a refreshing, healthy, delicious and natural alternative to sweet soft drinks.
After a lot of samples and laboratory testing we settled on a very simple effective brewing process;
We steep the premium unprocessed green tea leaves in small batches, leaving them to brew while extracting all the flavours and the powerful antioxidant (EGCG). We add a little sparkle to give it the refreshing functional great tasting mouthfeel.
